I don't have too many connections out there.

[He's feeling slightly guilty that he got too busy to notice he hadn't seen Kate Kane for awhile, though.]

I can ask Kate if she's got time to go check it out. If she can't, I might be able to take a day or two and go look myself. And if you think there's reason to suspect foul play, I know...heavier hitters. If there's a trail, we can try to find it.

I'm not going to speculate on how likely that is one way or another.

You don't need to pull yourself away from work for that. [ As much as she appreciates it. ] I can go myself.

Maybe I want an excuse to get out of town for a few days. [Maybe a break in a strange town would make him less grumpy about...lots of things.] I'll ask, anyway. It can't hurt. Maybe somebody I know has kept up with her better than I have.

I'll pass you a list of the places I was told she frequents.

It's also one less person who knows things about him he can't be sure of knowing, and someone who knows the worst of what he became...and he feels slightly guilty for thinking that, because it's a guilt and a burden he deserves to have to carry.

I didn't really like the idea of having roommates, one day. And it would have been inevitable.

What? No, you don't have to do anything like that. I've been living there for a month, I don't think there's much left to warm at this point.
