Sorry about the delay. As it turned out, the fire became somewhat of a problem.
[ he follows that up with a chuckle, so it's clear he's joking. ]
voice. (backdated to the 14th)
[As a man who cannot make things explode, and generally speaking finds fire to be a huge pain the ass regarding his senses: the humor of it is sort of lost on him. But he can be polite about it.]
But you're fine. I'm not especially busy at this time. How can I help you, Mr. Wright?

[Beat.] Let me clarify that nothing's on fire and nobody's about to die... yet... but y'know, whenever you can get back to me.
voice; backdated to early May
Oddly enough, when you leave a message that says nothing's wrong, I get the exact opposite impression.

It's Kate again.
You can drop the search. There's no need for it anymore.

One of them is Saul Goodman. He's a sketchy lawyer. Ambulance chaser type originally, but he tends to specifically take on sketchier clients to help them get out of problems. He works with meth dealers, and there's a good chance that there's a guy involved in meth here. I'm just not blowing the whistle without knowing for sure.
[There's a pause.]
Long story short, I thought I'd let you know.

[ There's a thing he's going to have to look into. But this is becoming a frustrating pattern. It's not surprising at all, which leaves a nasty taste in Matt's mouth. ]
You know, if they can manage to bring every corrupt lawyer here, every lawyer who's never practiced with a jury system, they should be able to manage Jen Walters. Or someone equally less intolerable.

I thought you might want my new address.
[ She can't text it like she did a couple of others so she gives out the address slowly.
If Matt's familiarized himself well enough with Heropa, the address is nowhere near the government housing, but is as close as one can possibly be near downtown. ]

[She left over the weekend, so she's not sure if anyone sent him the memo.
Still, she doesn't think she can handle traditional, nine-to-five work at the moment.]

Because of work. Things have a habit of coming up.
[ And by work they both know he means "Daredevil." Not because he's an asshole. Though he is that too. ]

Someone gave me your name, saying you could help out a friend of mine.

It's possible, yes, assuming your friend is in need of a lawyer.
[ Otherwise, somebody's got a lot of explaining to do. ]

I'm callin' Kate. Y'better be asleep at the office or somethin', 'cause I ain't messin' around.

voicemail (04/12)
Please don't leave me here.
voicemail (04/15)
I know it's stupid. Y'probably won't even hear these, I jus' -- I really miss you. Y'don't know what it's like tryin' t'sleep in our bed without you.
I really want you t'come home.
voicemail (04/18)
[ A little muffled exhale. ]
If you're gonna come back, now would be a great time.
voicemail (04/20)
I jus'... For the record? I still love you.
voicemail (04/26)
[ Her accent is thicker than usual. The syllables are ever so slightly slurred together, lazy in her mouth. There may or may not be a mostly empty wine bottle on the tile beside the tub. Apparently she isn't above the comfort of a warm soak and alcohol. ]
I was thinkin' about that night Frank left. When I showed up at your place. When y'took me back. I really needed that, y'know? I... [ The subtle sound of water sloshing gives away how she sinks deeper into the bath. ] Y'always took good care of me. Y'let me sleep in your bed, an' wear your clothes...
[ An unsteady exhale. ]
Makes me feel like a crybaby, 'cause I don't wanna go back t'takin' care of myself. Or bein' by myself. So, when y'come back, y'better still love me. Y'hear, Matt Murdock? Don't fall in love with someone else.
voicemail (04/29)
I'm tryin' t'pretend like it's gonna be alright. Like we're takin' a break. Or a vacation. An' you'll be back soon.
[ A little exhale. ]
So be back soon, okay?
voicemail (05/09)
[ Her voice is muffled by the blankets and pillows she's burrowed herself into. ]
I'm breakin' up with you. Jus' so when y'finally drag your stupid ass back here, you're gonna have t'convince me t'be your girlfriend again. I'm serious, y'hear me?
[ More muffled: ]
I mean it.

[There's a pause.]
I need a couple days, but I'll touch base with you once I deal with some stuff. Not friend stuff. Kate stuff. [Right. She's obviously not together. Her composure is barely held together by a thread. But she doesn't want people to think she's avoiding them. She also knows Matt can hear that, so after debating for a few seconds longer, she hangs up.]
